This letter refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by R. A. McBrearty
of this office on December 11-13, 1989 at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station
Units 1 and 2 in Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.
Mr. McBrearty discussed the
findings of the inspection with Mr. L. Miller at the conclusion of the inspection .
Areas examined during this inspection ~re described in the NRC Region I
Insp~ction Report which is enclosed with this letter. Within these areas, the
inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative
records, interviews with personoel, and observations by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations were observed.
