Docket Nos. 50-272/311 Mr. Steven E. Miltenberger Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Public Service Electric and Gas
- Company Post Office Box 236 Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey 08038
Dear Mr. Miltenberger:
January fl 1989 DISTRIBUTION Docket File NRC PDR & LPDR PDI-2 Reading SVarga/BBoger WButler/MO'Brien JStone/MThadani OGC EJordan/BGrimes DLasher ACRS ( 10)
SUBJECT:
SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 2.1 (PART 2)
(VENDOR INTERFACE PROGRAMS - RTS COMPONENTS)
TAC NOS. 52876 AND 52877 RE:
SALEM GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 Public Service Electric and Gas (licensee) was required by Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.1 (Part 2) to confirm that they have established an interface with either the NSSS or with the vendors of each of the components of their Reactor Trip System (RTS).
The response should also confirm that this interface program includes periodic communication between licensee/applicant and the vendor and a system of positive feedback which confirms receipt by the licensee/applicant of transmittals of technical information.
The licensee has responded and our review finds the licensee's responses to Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.1 (Part 2) to be acceptable.
The enclosed SER documents our findings.
We therefore consider Part 2 of Item 2.1 to be closed by this action. Generic Letter 83-28 Item 2.1 (Parts 1 and 2) are closed by this action since Part 1 of this item has been closed by a previous SER.
