Combined Inspection 50-272/88-11 and 50-311/88-11
This letter transmits the findings of the routine resident safety inspection
by Mr. R. Borchardt, Mrs. K. Halvey Gibson, and others of this office, from
March 22, 1988 to May 2, 1988, at the Salem Nuclear Generating Station,
Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.
The inspection consisted of document reviews,
interviews, and observation of activities.
The findings were discussed with
Mr. J. M. Zupko, Jr. of your staff.
Within the scope of this inspection no violations were observed, however the
inspectors identiffed a number of deficiencies related to program implementation
that may be indicative of inadequate supervisory oversight of plant activities.
Your attention is directed to paragraphs 4, 5, and 6 of the enclosed report for
details of the inspector 1 s findings in this regard.
No reply to this letter is required.
