SUBJECT:
DESELECTION OF SALEM UNIT 1 FROM SUBSIDIARY ARRANGEMENT US/IAEA SAFEGUARDS AGREEMENT The IAEA has notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of their decision to deselect the Salem Unit 1 Power Reactor from the Subsidiary Arrangement as provided for in Article 39(c) of the US/IAEA Safeguards Agreement.
Additionally, the IAEA did not exercise its option to maintain the facility under Article 2(a) of the Protocol.
The IAEA inspection efforts at this facility concluded as of January 31, 1988.
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 75.41, the Commission hereby informs Public Service Electric and Gas Company its installation is no longer subject to Article 39(b) of the principal text of the US/IAEA Safeguards Agreement.
The IAEA Safeguards License Conditions incorporating Code 7. of the Facility Attachment as part of NRC License No. DPR-70 will be terminated as of the date of this notice.
