Combined Inspection 50-272/87-12 and 50-311/87-15
This refers to the routine resident safety inspection by Mr. T. Kenny and
Mrs. K. Gibson, of this office, on Aprfl 21, 1987 to May 18, 1987, at the
Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Hancocks Bridge, New Jersey.
The
inspection c~nsisted of document reviews, interviews, and observation of
activities.
The findings were discussed with Mr. J. M. Zupko, Jr. of your
staff.
Within the scope of this inspection, one licensee identified violation
occurred involving missed surveillance tests on diesel generators.
This
event is discussed in Section 7 of the attached report.
In accordance with
10CFR2, Appendix C, a notice of violation was not issued.
This letter also acknowledges receipt of your response dated April 30, 1987,
to the violation cited in Inspection Report 50-311/87-03.
Your corrective
actions have been reviewed and found acceptable as discussed in Section 2 of
the attached report.
No reply to this letter is required.
