Accordingly we wish to inform Public Service Electric and Gas Company that an allegation on Salem Unit No. 1 has been received and is being reviewed by the staff. The concern is a statement received by the NRC which alleges that Public Service lacks verifying information to show that the plant's 6 inch silicone foam fire barrier penetration seals have an adequate fire rating.
The NRC requires that these seals satisfy our fire protection requirements.
Please review your documentation with respect to verification of an acceptable fire rating for the seals and advise us of your findings.
