We have reviewed your March 23, 1984 request to extend the schedule for completion of PSE&G Corrective Action Program Item C.8.a.2, relating to post maintenance operability testing of safety related equipment.
Our May 6, 1983 order required that you complete this item by January 1984.
Your letter stated that based on your definition of the scope intended for this*
item, that you had completed your review and had incorporated all the required changes into departmental procedures. This had been accomplished by the end of January 1984.
However, you further stated that personnel from Region I had advised you that the defined scope for the item should have also included your review of 11 vendor manuals 11 for inclusion in the test program and that until this additional material had been included in the testing program, they (Region I) could not conclude that the item was complete.
Consequently, you requested an extension for completion of the item to July 1984.
In our view, it appears that you may have been in noncompliance with the order.
Therefore, extending the date of the order does not appear to be appropriate.
The matter is being referred to Region I for consideration of enforcement action and resolution of this matter.
