- u. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 7920 Norfolk Avenue Bethesda, Maryland 20014 Attention:
Mr. Steven A. Varga, Chief Operating Reactors Branch Division of Licensing Gentlemen:
LICENSED OPERATOR REQUALIFICATION TRAINING PROCEDURE (TP-305)
NO. 1 AND 2 UNITS SALEM GENERATING STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-272 AND 50-311 In your letter dated January 24, 1984, you raised two issues related to proposals submitted in a letter dated October 17, 1983, concerning our conduct of certain aspects of the Salem Licensed Operator Requalif ication Program.
The first issue was a request that we clarify our policy with regard to evaluation quizzes.
As previously stated, quizzes are used to determine weaknesses and indicate the need for emphasis on certain subjects.
Also, they provide a means for the practical application of. lecture material.
When quizzes are administered, allowable reference materials are clearly stated on the quiz cover sheet.
The reference materials are generally limited to those that would be available in the normal course of the job.
Evaluated quizzes and exercises are returned to the student.
Verbatim repetition of quiz questions on segment examinations will not be permitted.
We will revise TP-305 to
.add that statement.
Concerning the second issue, we have revised the Salem Licensed Operator Training Program Training Procedure (TP-305) to implement the accepted proposal for changing 33% of the content of the segment examination each time it is administered *
