By letter dated December 14, 2016 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML16355A346), as supplemented by letters dated February 23 and August 31 , 2017 (ADAMS Accession Nos. ML17055C360 and ML17251A864, respectively) ,

Virginia Electric and Power Company (the licensee) proposed an alternative to the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI IWA-4000. The licensee proposed to apply layers of carbon fiber reinforced polymer to repair the inside surface of buried circulating water and service water piping at Surry Power Station, Units 1 and 2.

By letter dated December 20, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17303A037), the NRC authorized relief for the subject request. The safety evaluation (SE) was issued in both proprietary and non-proprietary versions . Four numbers in the Allowable Stress Design Methodology Summary table on page 28 and 29 of the proprietary version of the relief request SE are incorrect. The correction resulted from a data transfer error on the part of the NRC.

The correct page is reissued as enclosed. This change does not impact the NRC safety conclusion , as described in its safety evaluation or the no significant hazards consideration as published in the Federal Register.

Please note that this information is proprietary, and is not a part of the nonproprietary version of the issued safety evaluation (ADAMS Accession No. ML17303A068).
