SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE FOR SEPTEMBER 1997 The Unit began the month operating at' 100 percent power. On September 10, 1997 an Ultrasonic Flow Measurement (UFM) system was placed in service to more accurately measure feedwater flow. This should allow the plant to increase power output by approximately two percent.

On September 19, 1997 at 2121 hours0.0245 days
0.589 hours
0.00351 weeks
8.070405e-4 months
a plant back down to 84 percent was achieved for turbine valve testing and repacking of a heater drain pump. The plant was returned to full power on September 21, 1997 at 0800 hours0.00926 days
0.222 hours
0.00132 weeks
3.044e-4 months
.

On September 29, 1997 at 2030 hours0.0235 days
0.564 hours
0.00336 weeks
7.72415e-4 months
, a plant shutdown was initiated to facilitate repairs on a small leak on a primary coolant pump seal leakoff line. The turbine was taken offline at 0514 hours0.00595 days
0.143 hours
8.498677e-4 weeks
1.95577e-4 months
on September 30, 1997 with the reactor subcritical at 1110 hours0.0128 days
0.308 hours
0.00184 weeks
4.22355e-4 months
. The Unit remained shutdown for the rest of the month.
