SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE FOR AUGUST, 1989 Palisades began the month of August with power maintained at 80%.

On August 4 at 1949 hours0.0226 days
0.541 hours
0.00322 weeks
7.415945e-4 months
, the reactor underwent an automatic trip while DC ground trouble-shooting was being performed.

During transfer of preferred AC Bus Y20 to the Bypass Regulator, a fuse blew in the "B" Steam Generator level control circuit resulting in a loss of feed to the "B" Steam Generator.

Consequently, the reactor tripped 9n "B" Steam Generator low level.

The reactor was returned to critical at 10-4% power on August 7 at 0415 hours0.0048 days
0.115 hours
6.861772e-4 weeks
1.579075e-4 months
with the main generator being synchronized to the grid at 1238 hours0.0143 days
0.344 hours
0.00205 weeks
4.71059e-4 months
.

Reactor power reached 80% on August 9 at approximately 0100 hours0.00116 days
0.0278 hours
1.653439e-4 weeks
3.805e-5 months
, and this level was maintained for the remainder of the month.
