NOTICE OF DEVIATION Consumers Power Company Docket No. 50-255 Ba seq on the resul.ts of the NRC inspection conducted on May 16-18 and June 9, 1989, certain of your activities appear t6 deviate from your written response to NRC Branch Technical Position APSCB 9.5-1, Appendix A, as indicated below:
Section_D.3(c) of the Appendix A re~ponse, dated March 31, 1977, itates that "The safety-related equipment in the vicinity of automatic sprinklers have all had the top cable entry points in the cabinets sealed to prevent water ingress.
11 Sect1on E.3(a) of the Appendix A response, dated March 31, 1977~ states that "The top cable entry openings of the cabinets of safety related equipment have been sealed closed to prevent water ingress. 11 Section F.5 of the Appendix A response, dated March 31, 1977, states that*
"All switchgear top cable penetrations are sealed with Flammastic.
11 Contrary to the above, during a plant to~r on May 17, 1989, the NRC identified that Bus lC in Switchgear Room 1-C had an unsealed opening in a top cable penetration.
Please provide in writing* within 30 days of th~ date of this Notice:
(1) th~
reasow for the deviation; (2) the corrective actions that have been t~ken and the r:esults achieved_; (3) the corrective actions that will be taken to avoid further deviations; and (4) the date when your corrective actions will be completed.
Consideration may be given to extending the response time for good cause shown.
