Docket No. 50-255 Consumers Power Company ATTN:
David P. Hoffman Vice President Nuclear Operations 212 West Michigan Avenue Jackson, MI 49201 Gentlemen:
SEP 011988 We have reviewed the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) letter dated August 1, 1988, and associated final exercise evaluation on the offsite emergency preparedness exercise conducted on February 17, 1988, for the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant; which included the State of Michigan, Van Buren County, Allegan County and Berrien County.
There were no deficiencies identified during this exercise; however, there were several areas requiring corrective actions. A schedule of these corrections is included in this report.
Based on the results of this exercise, FEMA's overall evaluation is that there is reasonable assurance that appropriate protective measures can be taken offsite in the event of a radiological emergency.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
