& Special Projects PALISADES PLANT - CONFIRMATORY ACTION LETTER DATED MARCH 27, 1987 (TAC No. 64017)
Item three of the subject Confirmatory Action Letter required restriction of plant operation below 53°F inlet service water temperature until NRC reviewed and approved a Consumers Power Company analysis of the capability of the Palisades Service Water System above 53°F.
By [[letter::PNO-III-87-053, on 870412,reactor Manually Tripped as Result of Leak in Electrohydraulic Control (EHC) Sys for Main Turbine.Caused by Fatigue Failure of Impeller of Pump in EHC Sys.Pump Repaired|letter dated April 13, 1987]], Consumers Power Company submitted the analysis as part of the justification for withdrawal of their license amendment request of December 2, 1986.
Attached is the safety evaluation by the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation approving the licensee's analysis for operation with service water inlet temperatures up to 80°F.
This can provide you with the basii for revising, or closing out, your Confirmatory Action Letter for this item.
