REQUEST FOR RELIEF FROM HYDROSTATIC TEST PRESSURE REQUIREMENTS Re:
Palisades Plant By letter dated May 14, 1984, you requested relief from the hydrostatic test pressure requirements of the 1977 Edition through Summer 1978 Addenda of Section XI of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code after modification and repair of the auxiliary feedwater and main feedwater lines at the Palisades Plant.
We have completed our review of your request and have determined that the hydrostatic pressure test requirements are impractical to perform. Accordingly, your request for relief is approved.
The NRC staff has determined that the granting of this relief is authorized by law and will not endanger life or property or the common defense and security and is otherwise in the public interest considering the burden that would result if they were imposed on your facility.
The NRC staff's Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
