Operating Reactors Branch No 5 US Nuclear Regulatory Connnission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-255 - LICENSE DPR PALISADES PLANT - SEP TOPIC III-10.B, PUMP FLYWHEEL INTEGRITY By letter dated July 11, 1980, the.NRG issued for connnent a draft evaluation of SEP Topic III-10.B for the Palisades Plant.
- Subsequently, NRC letter dated May 15, 1981 transmitted a revision of that topic evaluation.
Consumers Power Company has reviewed the May 15, 1981 revision and finds it acceptable with one exception.
In Section V.A, the evaluation states that the flywheel bore stress in 8300 psi at a pump speed of 900 RPM.
According to Consumers Power Company letter (RC Youngdahl to PA Morris, USAEC) dated February 1, 1971 and Question 14.1 Amendment 15 of Palisades FSAR, this value should be 7300 psi.
