Consumers Power Company Palisades Nuclear Plant Docket No. 50-255 General 3-3-79

SUMMARY

OF SHUTDOWN EXPERIENCE FOR MARCH 1979 With the exception noted below, the plant operated at 100 percent of rated thermal power during March.

The high level dump valve (CV-0609) for the moisture separator drain tank failed open, resulting in a low water level in the tank.

This caused the heater drain pump (P-lOB) to trip, which in turn led to a low suction pressure trip of the main feedwater pumps.

The reactor tripped from low steam generator water level.

Following repairs to CV-0609, the plant was returned to operation.

The outage lasted 21.5 hours5.787037e-5 days
0.00139 hours
8.267196e-6 weeks
1.9025e-6 months
.
