Gentlemen:
The purpose of this letter fs to direct your attentfoh to our continuing concern for the accuracy and completeness of information submitted to the NRC by lfcensees and applicants.
Our statutory responsibilftfes require that fnformatfon received as part of the regulatory process be accurate and complete.
This fncludes fnformatfon provided fn license applications, responses to licensing questfons, enforcement letter
. responses, event reports, and IE Bulletin responses.
As you know, 10 CFR 50.30 requires that an application for a lfcense, or amendment thereto, be provided under oath or affirmation.
Mhile other fnformatfon fs not required to be provided under oath or affirmatfon, this fn no way detracts from the necessity that all fnformation submftted to the NRC be accurate.
The fnformatfon submitted should be substan-tiated by data, records, calculations and sound technical Judgment.
The required promptness of reply may, under certain circumstances, contribute to an inadvertent submittal of inc'omplete or inaccurate fnformatfon.
Under such circumstances.
we expect your prompt detection and immediate HRC notification of any fnaccuracfes and fncompleteness fn the fnforma-tfon supplied to the HRC.
You are no doubt aware that faflure to meet the expected standards of accuracy and completeness has resulted fn enforcement action.
Enforce-ment action will continue to be considered for inaccurate or incomplete information amounting to material false statements.
Such action fs necessary, as fnaccurate or fncomplete information could lead to deci-sions which adversely affect the health and safety of the public.
