Dear Mr. Kingsley:
SUBJECT:
MODIFICATION ORDER NO. 85 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1, 2
AND 3 In its letter dated June 14, 1985, the NRC staff issued an Order modifying the licenses of Sequoyah and Browns Ferry.
Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) responded with letters dated July 2, July 26, August 13, September 27 and November 15, 1985; February 4, March 7 and July 2, 1986; and March 2, 1987.
TVA concluded in its letter dated March 2, 1987 that, with the implementation of the TVA revised Conditions Adverse to guality (CAQ) Program, it had met the requirements of the Order.
We have reviewed these letters and the TVA revised CA/ program as described in the TVA Corporate and Browns Ferry Nuclear Perform-ance Plans.
We have also reviewed the implementation of the program at Browns Ferry in several NRC inspections.
As discussed in our enclosed Safety Evaluation (SE),
we have concluded that you have acceptably addressed the Order for Browns Ferry.
Therefore, based on the enclosed SE, the Order is considered satisfied.
The NRC staff will con-
- tinue, however, to monitor the implementation of the CA/ program at Browns Ferry as part of its normal inspection program for the units.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Mr. Tom Daniels, Browns Ferry Project Manager, at 301-491-0756.
