In the Matter of the Tennessee Valley Authority Docket Nos.
50-259 50-260 50-296 Provided as enclosure 1 for NRC staff review and approval is a description of the Cable Similarity Program developed jointly by TVA and General Electric (GE) for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN).
This program will be used to support the environmental qualification of a small fraction of electrical cable procurement contracts at BFN.
The process by which cable similarity will be established is described in General Electric Company NEDE-31302P-1, included as part of enclosure 1.
Errata to the GE report is provided as enclosure 2.
Use of the methodology described in the enclosures is essential for timely completion of the environmental qualification program for cable at BFN.
Accordingly, we request that NRC review the enclosed report and formally concur with the methodology by October 31, 1986.
This methodology and need for NRC review was discussed with you and the NRC staff in a meeting on April 29, 1986.
As was also discussed in that meeting, TVA is currently using this methodology as a part of the BFN Environmental Qualification Program.
The enclosed NEDE-31302P-1 contains information proprietary to GE.
An affidavit required by 10 CFR 2.790 is provided as enclosure 3.
Accordingly, it is requested that copies of the GE report not be placed in the public document room and that the report be protected by the NRC staff from unauthorized disclosure.
