Dear Mr. White:

SUBJECT'ESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 84-11 RE STAINLESS STEEL PIPING REINSPECTION Re:

Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 1, 2, and 3

By letter dated June 7, 1984 Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) submitted a'esponse to Generic Letter 84-11.

We have reviewed the submittal dated June 7, 1984, and supplements dated February 13, and May 3 and 22, 1985 from TVA regarding the stainless steel piping inspections in accordance with Generic Letter 84-11 for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plants, Units 1, 2 and 3.

The results of our review are contained in the enclosed Safety Evaluation.

Based on our review we find that the pipe inspection plans for the upcoming refueling outages are acceptable,

however, we request that TVA respond to the enclosed request for additional information prior to restart of'he units from the current outages.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
