& Light Company (CP&L) hereby clarifies the July 25, 1984 (NLS-84-343) response to Eddleman Contention 9 concerning the Environmental Qualification program.

The response to 9B references a verification performed by the on-site Quality Assurance (QA) organization.

This verification is performed by vaxious on-site groups involved in the quality of the installation, but not restricted to the site organization known as QA.

This clarification does not diminish CP&L's commitment to ensure that the environmentally-qualified equipment required during an accident is installed in accordance with design documents and vendor qualification reports.
