Preservice/Inservice Inspection Program
~Res onse:
FSAR Sections 5.2.4 and 6.6 identify the criteria that are applicable to the Preservice Inspection Program.
The NRC, in SER Open Item No.
6 and in a request for additional information dated October ll, 1983, identified specific concerns regarding the implementation of CP&L's FSAR commitments related to the preservice inspection program.
In response to this request and the SER open item, CPSL is providing a copy of the preservice inspection program implementing procedure and a copy of the applicable flow drawings.
The attached procedure identifies the FSAR commitments, the section of the ASME Code that will be used to justify exemptions, examination procedures, evaluation criteria, records and reports, personnel qualifications, pre-examination requirements, calibration methods, and a detailed inspection plan summary.
Relief requests identified during the preservice inspections will be submitted to the NRC with the Inservice Inspection Program.
This submittal will be made subsequent to commercial operation of the unit.
The attached procedure is provided to illustrate the implementation of the preservice inspection program.
This procedure will be modified as required by changes to the design of the unit.
Such changes to the procedure will not be submitted to the NRC, but will be available for review on site.-
