Subject:
Issuance of Errata to Final Environmental Statement - Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued the enclosed errata to the Final Environmental Statement (FES) related to the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2.
On page 5-35, the U. S. population dose from exposure to radioactivity attribut-
. able to the normal annual operation of the plant has been changed to be consistent with a correction made to Appendix D.
In Table D-9, "Annual total-body population dose commitments, year 2000," the U. S. population dose commitment for liquid effluents has been changed to 3.5 person-rems/year.
The second item on the errata sheet reflects corrections to population densities on page 5-57 previously converted incorrectly from English to metric units.
Finally, typographical errors in the last four lines of page 5-79 have been corrected.
The paragraph now reads as it read in the Shearon Harris Draft Environmental Statement.
Sincerely, 840i270555 840ii2

5.9.3.2 5-35 In line 4 of the third complete paragraph the U.S. population dose rom exposur e to radioactivity attributable to the normal annual operation of the plant, 56 person-rems has been changed to 58 person-rems.
5.9.4.4 5-57 In line 5 the population density 552 people/km has been changed to 82 2
people/km In line 6 the population 2
density 932 people/km has been changed 2
to 139 people/km
, which correctly 2
converts to 361 people/mi, rather than 360 people/mi 5.9.4.5 5-79 The last 4 lines on the pace have been corrected.
The paragraph now reads, "In addition,.the staff estimates that system fuel costs would increase by approximately
$ 57 million ( 1985 dollars) for replacement power dur',no each year Shearon Harris Unit 1 is out nf service.
This estimate assumes that the unit
will operate at an average 55K capacity factor and that replacement energy will be provided primarily from coal-fired generation.
Assuming the unit does not operate for 8 years, the replacement power cost would amount to
$456 'million (in 1985 dollars)."
Appendix D
D-12 In Table D-9, "Annual total-bo'dy population dose commitments, year 2000,"
the U.S. population dose commitment for liquid effluents has been changed to 3.5 person-rems/vear from 0.9 person-rems/year.
