Carolina Power
& Light Company (CP&L) hereby transmits three (3) originals and sixty (60) copies of Amendment No.
5 to the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).
Included in this amendment are CP&L responses to questions from the Structural Engineering Branch (220 Series),
the Geosciences Branch (230 Series),
the Chemical Engineering Branch (280 Series),
the Auxiliary Systems Branch (410 Series),
the Power Systems Branch (430 Series),,the Reactor Systems Branch (440 Series),
the Effluent Treatment Systems Branch (460 Series),
the Radiological Assessment Branch (471 Series),
the Containment Systems Branch (480 Series) and the Core Performance Branch (490 Series).
These responses have been provided previously by letter and are now being incorporated into the FSAR.
Other portions of this amendment include revisions to Regulatory Guide Positions in Chapter 1 and revisions to the Organization of the SHNPP Nuclear Operations Department in Chapter 13.
A table of questions numbers and related FSAR Sections is provided for your convenience as a new FSAR Appendix A.
Each revised page bears the amendment number.
Only those changes which are technical in nature are indicated by vertical bars.
Instructions for entering the revised pages are included.
