Dear Mr. Denton:
In reference to NRC letter to Mr. J.
A. Jones dated March 26,
- 1982, Carolina Power
& Light Company (CP&L) has conducted a Detailed Contr ol Room Design Review.
This extensive review was performed by the Essex Corporation between April 1980 and January 1981.
As a result of this study, the Main Contr ol Board was redesigned and certain equipment relocated.
For those design features which could not be evaluated or measured due to the then present stage of construction, Essex developed 17 human engineering specifications.
These specifications are being incorporated as necessary to ensur e a well-engineered Control Room from a human factors engineering standpoint.
Carolina Power
& Light Company completed this "state of the art" Control Room Design Review prior to any regulatory requirement.
We are awaiting the Commissioners response to SECY 82-111 before proceeding further.
