Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On April 21, 1980, the'egion II office (Mr. R. Bradley) was notified by the'arolina Power
& Light Company (CP&L) of a potentially reportable item regarding welding defects in the Bergen Patterson Company supplied hangers for incore instrumentation.
As indicated during a May 22, 1980, telephone conversation with'our Mr. J.
K. Rausch, CP&L'as not completed its evaluation of this matter as related to reportability under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
It is now anticipated that this evaluation will be completed'y June 16, 1980, at which time the NRC will be notified of our decision.
