Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
In response to IE Bulletin 78-12B, Carolina Power il Light Company submitted a letter on May 29, 1979, which stated that ve vere satisfied that the generic report submitted to you by Chicago Bridge and Iron Company on April 29, 1979, on the weld materials used to fabricate the reactor pressure vessels for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) Units 1 and 2, adequately represented our vessels.
Our letter also stated that the generic report for the reactor pressure vessels for SHNPP Units 3 and 4, manufactured by Combustion Engineering, was not yet available.
We, therefore, requested a 30 day review period, subsequent to the submittal of the generic report by Combustion Engineering, before responding regarding the pertinence of the report to our Unit 3 and 4 reactor pressure vessels.
Combustion Engineering submitted their generic report to the NRC on June 8, 1979.
Carolina Power 6 Light Company and Westinghouse Electric Corporation, our supplier, have reviewed this report and are satisfied that it adequately represents data for the reactor pressure vessels for SHNPP Units 3 and 4 with the following corrections:
