SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1, 2, 3, AND 4-SEISMIC t10NITORING PROGRAM On April 30, 1979, you provided the first report from your Seismic Monitoring Program.

The report sumnarized the first eighteen months of data from the seismograph installed to monitor any seismicity which might accompany filling of the reservoir at the Shearon Harris Site.

We have reviewed the report and noted that no seismic activity was detected in the plant site area.

In order to help us to better understand the data, we request that you provide, in your next data report, the information listed in the attached Enclosure.

Identify the cultural events and state those signal characteristics used to identify cultural events.

Identify teleseismic events on the records.

Calculate magnitudes of several teleseismic events recorded at the network to confirm the network's response.

What is your explanation for the lack of earthquakes near the plant site during the first eighteen months of network operation?
