This refers to the inspection
conducted
by W.
M. Sartor, Jr., of this office
on July 26-30,
1993.
The inspection
included
a review of activities
authorized for your Shearon Harris facility.
At the conclusion of the
inspection,
the findings were discussed
with those
members of your staff
identified in the report.
Areas
examined during the inspection
are identified"in the report.
Within
these
areas,
the inspection consisted
of selective
examinations of procedures
and representative
records,
interviews with personnel,
and observation of
activities in progress.
Within the scope of the inspection,
no violations or deviations
were
identified.
Your attention is directed to the resolution of the Exercise
Weaknesses
identified in .Paragraphs
8 and
10 of the enclosed
Inspection Report.
As
required
by Section
IV.F of Appendix
E to
any weakness
that is
identified shall
be corrected.
Accordingly, please
advise
us, within 45 days
of the date -of this letter, of the corrective actions you have taken,
or
plan'o
take,
showing the estimated
date of completion .with regard to these
exercise
weaknesses.
As discussed
with management
at the exit interview,
we
understand
that you will determine
why the release
information as discussed
in
Paragraph
10 was delayed in being
made available to offsite agencies
via your
Emergency Notification Form.
It is also understood that your next
quarterly drill will focus
on demonstrating
the capability to assess
a
'radiological release
and
make notifications that include source
term and
projected offsite dose information. If your understanding
of the above
commitments differs from that'resented,
please
advise
us
as
soon
as possible.
