LICENSE AMENDMENT FOR CYCLE 3 RELOAD OPERATION - RE(VEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT 1 (TAC NO. 72947)

By letter dated April 17, 1989, you submitted an application to revise numerous Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1, (Harris) Technical Specifications in support of refueling and operation of Harris with VANTAGE 5 improved fuel during the upcoming third refueling cycle.

In our review of this amendment application, we find that we need the information requested in the enclosure to complete our review.

Please respond to this request within 30 days of receipt of this letter.

In order to facilitate an August 17, 1989 conference call on your request, the enclosed questions were telecopied to Mr. Oates of your organization on August ll, 1989.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirments contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P. L.96-511.

Address the conformance with restrictions 1, 2, 4, and 10 specified in the Safety Evaluation Report (SER) on WCAP-10444.

Explain why in the analysis of the Steam Generator Tube Rupture (SGTR)

P 25 (Attachment 1 of your submittal),

2785 MWT power level is used instead of 2775 NWT used in other analyses.

Address the conformance with restrictions specified in the SER on LOFTTR2 (WCAP-11704)-(See Section 15.6.3.3 of Attachment 3 of your submittal).
