NPF-63 WITHDRAWAL OF REQUEST FOR LICENSE AMENDMENT MOVABLE INCORE DETECTORS Gentlemen:
On June 1,
1988, Carolina Power
& Light Company (CP&L) requested a
revision to the Technical Specifications for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP).
The proposed change reduces the number of operable incore detectors thimbles required by Technical Specification 3.3.3.2.a from 38 to 25.
The revision was requested because the number of operable thimbles was approaching the current limit of 38.
The amendment was to be in effect for the remainder of SHNPP Cycle 1.
SHNPP has now completed Cycle 1 and has entered its first refueling outage.
Repairs to the system are planned during this outage.
Therefore, the need for the proposed license amendment has been obviated.
As such, CP&L withdraws the June 1,
1988 license amendment request.
