SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT 1 - ANTICIPATED TRANSIENT WITHOUT SCRAM (ATWS)
RULE 10 CFR 50.62 (TAC NO. 64561)
The staff has reviewed your submittals dated January ll, Apri 1 12, and May 10, 1988 that described the ATWS mitigating system actuation circuitry proposed for installation at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1.
We have concluded that, pending the final resolution of the technical specification issue being deve'loped by the NRC staff, your proposed ATWS design is in com-pliance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.62, paragraph (c)(1).
- Further, the staff conclusion is based on the successful completion of certain human factors engineering reviews delineated in the enclosed Safety Evaluation.
Until the NRC staff review is completed regarding the use of technical speci-fications for ATWS requirements, you should continue with the scheduled installation and implementation of the ATWS design using administratively controlled procedures.
