NPF-63 RESPONSE TO NRC BULLETINNO. 88-02: RAPIDLY PROPAGATING FATIGUE CRACKS IN STEAM GENERATOR TUBES
Dear Dr. Grace:
Bulletin No. 88-02 requested that holders of operating licenses for Westinghouse designed nuclear power reactors with steam generators having carbon steel support plates review steam generator inspection data for evidence of denting of the uppermost support plate.
In addition, actions. were specified to minimize the potential for a steam generator tube rupture event caused by a rapidly propagating fatigue crack.
The Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) is currently operating in the initial fuel cycle and has not yet g
erformed an inservice inspection of the steam generators.
The information requested y Bulletin No. 88-02 is, therefore, hot available at this time. Steam generator inspections are planned for the upcoming refueling outage, currently scheduled to begin 3uly 16, 1988, and end September 16, 1938. A report detailing the status of our compliance with the Bulletin actions willbe submitted within 05 days of completing the steam generator inservice inspection report as required by SHNPP Technical Specif ication 0.0.5.5(b).
