SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT EMERGENCY EXERCISE OF FEBRUARY 28, 1987 Enclosed is a copy of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Report for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant Emergency Exercise of February 28, 1987.
As described in the enclosed
- report, FEMA has identified no deficiencies; however eight areas were identified that require corrective actions.
The items noted ranged from poor radio communication and poor management of the Joint Information Center to improper calibration of county emergency equipment.
In
- addition, FEMA identified twenty-eight areas recommended for improvement.
We encourage you to assist the appropriate organizations in resolving the weaknesses identified by FEMA.
Resolution of these items should be completed prior to the next full scale emergency preparedness exercise.
We encourage you to work closely with the State and counties in the development of a scenario for the next full scale exercise that will effectively test the areas in which the above items were disclosed; Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
