Dear Mr. Denton:
Carolina Power R Light Company (CPRL) hereby submits additional information concerning an adjustment to the integrated leak rate test (ILRT)results at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP). After the completion of the preoperational ILRT, a modification to a containment mechanical penetration (M-83) was required, and subsequently an adjustment to the ILRT results was performed.
This letter transmits the adjustment to the original results for the preoperational ILRT which were submitted by letter dated June 18, 1986.
The change to the containment mechanical penetration involved removing the blank plates from both sides of spare mechanical penetration M-83 and installing a penetration module containing two one-inch pipes.
Four containment isolation valves were also added.
These modifications required a 10CFR50, Appendix J Leak Test on the penetration sleeve welds and the containment isolation valves.
These tests were performed on September 22, 1986 per preoperational test procedure 1-8010-P-00, Revision l. The results of this testing were used to adjust the ILRT results as documented on the attached data sheet from the preoperational test procedure 1-8010-P-00, Revision 1. The Mass Point Leak Rate at the upper confidence interval, after this adjustment, is 0.05203 weight percent per day. This is less than the allowable leak rate of 0.075 weight percent per day.
