Dear Hr. Denton:
Carolina Power 5 Light Company (CPhL) hereby submits supplemental information addressing the adequacy of on shift operating experience at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP).
Based on discussions with your staff, CPhL has initiated actions to qualify an additional person (Hr.
K. Kyser) with six months hot operating experience.
Hr. Kyser has had 4 '
months of hot experience at the CPhL H.
B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant (HBR) and is returning to HBR on October 20, i98b to work on shift to accumulate an additional 240 hours0.00278 days <br />0.0667 hours <br />3.968254e-4 weeks <br />9.132e-5 months <br /> of hot shift experience.
htr. Kyser will then be available as a backup to provide on shift experience for power levels greater than 5 percent of full power.
htr. Kyser's resume is attached as Attachment 3.
CPhL will also utilize Nr ~
H. Smith as a backup to provide on shift operating experience.

H. Smith has had extensive hot experience at HBR as well as classroom and simulator training at SHNPP.
Nr. Smith's resume is in the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) on page's i3.i.3-32 and 33.
Attachment I shows CPhL's preferred shift experience complement for full power operation.
Attachment 2 provides CP5L's backup shift complement for full power operation as a contingency to provide the necessary experience on shift.
