SHEAQON HARRIS NUCLEAR POV/ER PLANT NRC STRUCTURAL AND GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING BRANCH UESTION ON FSAR SECTION 3.8A, AMENDMENTNO. 11 In order to understand the application of the revised concrete curing procedure that was proposed by Amendment No. 11 to FSAR Section 3.8A provide the following information:

1.

Does all the Category I concrete curing meet the proposed procedure?

2.

Is there any structure that does not meet either the revised procedure or the original ACI procedure?

If so, please identify the structure, discuss the nature of the deviation, and provide justification why such structure still meets the intended design objectives.

RESPONSE

l.

Not all the Category I concrete curing meets the proposed procedure identified in FSAR Section 3.8, Appendix A. The revised curing procedure is applicable to only certain types of Category I concrete.

Allother types of concrete not covered by the revised curing procedure follow the curing procedure of the ACI standard.

2.

There is no structure (Category I concrete) that does not meet either the revised procedure identified in FSAR Section 3.8, Appendix A or the original procedure of the ACI standard.

Allstructures fall under one of the two procedures.
