Dear Mr. Denton:

This letter documents an earlier conversation between our staffs where your staff was informed that the Board of Directors of Carolina Power

& Light Company has revised the expected commercial operation date for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant.

The new date is estimated to be September 1986.

An operating license is required by March 1, 1986 to make this commercial operation date achievable.
