Dear Mr. O'Reilly,

In response to your letter dated March 30, 1979, Carolina Power Light Company has investigated the use of Velan Engineering Corporation swing check valves in Seismic Category I piping systems at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP).

The results of the investigation indicate that there are no Velan swing check valves planned fox use in Seismic Category I piping systems at SHNPP.

Therefore, CP&L plans no further action with regard to your letter.
