This is to confirm our commitment to meet with the'RC's Environmental Project Manager for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNPP) at 9:30 a.m.
on May 8, 1979, at the NRC offices in Bethesda.

& Light Company has requested this meeting to discuss the preparation of the SHNPP Environmental Report (ER), which is tq be submitted to the NRC staff in June, 1980.

EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL
Dear Mr. Case:
This is to inform you of a minor change in our construction plans for clearing of'he main xeseryoix.
Contrary to the'iscussion in. Section" 4',4 of the Reyised Final Environmental Statement (FES),
we no longer intend to'lear the reservoir area in two stages.
Our original plan to clear the area. between low and normal water, levels after'onstruction of the'am applied to the'0,'000 acre lake; and was based" on the'act, that when'.we were planning for,the 10,000 acre lake, approximately three'ears could have elapsed between clearing. the upper reservoir area and inundation, During this time regrowth would have occurred, thus xequiring reclearing.
With the'maller 4,000 acre lake'his is no longer a pxoblem'.
The, change will have no material, effect on our program for minimizing impacts from'rosion and sediaientation, In fact,'" since the"'drafting of the" Com-'anyts Envixonmental.Report and-the'ublication, of.the'evised Sinai Environmental Statemenh, North" Carolina has implemented an erosion and sedimentation control pxogram pursuant to'hich. the Company must obtain State authorization for reser-yoir cleaiing.
-The State'program requires protective, measures-that equal or ex-ceed those discussed in theFES, and thus assures'ompliance with the erosion and sedimentation control measures'ontemplated in the'ES and in.the construction permits.
