1977, April 10, 1978, November 15, 1978, Itarch 6, 1979, September 18, 1979, October 15, 1980 and June 14, 1982, you submitted a proposed fnservfce inspection program description and request for relief from inspection requirements pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(g).
The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the results of the staff review of your relief requests and to grant relief in part from the requirements of Section XI of the Amerfcan S'ou-;sty of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (the Code) or. impose other requirements, as appropriate.
The review of requests for relief from the fnservfce inspection requirements has beqn completed.
Based on the results of this review, the staff has determined there are cases in which relief can be granted from the examina-tion requirements which we have determfned to be impractical to perfoIIIII and by granting relief, will not compromise the safety of Turkey Pofnt Units 3
andi4.
Section 50.55a(g) of 10 CFR Part 50 requires that your program be revised at 120-month fntervals with the start of commercial operation being the reference date.
The start of the next fnterval for Unit 3 is December 14, 1982 and for Unit 4 is September 7, 1'983.
Your fnservice inspection and testing program must be based on the edition and addenda of the Code incorporated by 10 CFR 50.55a(g) 12 months prior to these dates.
Although the date.of applicability of this Code edftfon and addenda has expired for Unit 3, the relief requests evaluated in this repor t may still Oe valid because all examinations requfr eg to be performed during the ten-year interval may not have been completed or bedause the examination requirements fn the later edition and addenda of Sectfon XI may be the same as those for which relief has been requested.
The relief requests for the next 120-month inspection interval to be submitted for review should factor the information presented in this report, into consideration.
Any changes to your Technical Specifi-cations are required to be submitted at least six months prior to the beginning of a 120-month interval and it is requested. that any requests for relief from Code requirements be provided oa,the same schedule.

Until that time you should follow your current inservice inspection program modified as described herein and by any further relief granted'r additional testing imposed during the remainder of the period.
The enclosed Safety Evaluation (Enclosure 1) delineates those items for which relief has been granted and alternate schedules and procedures defined.
The staff has determined that where stated the Code requirements are impractical, the granting of this'relief is authorized by law and will not endanger life orpproperty of the cotteon defense and security, and is otherwise in the public interest considering the burden that could result if they were imposed on your facility.
A.copy of the related Notice of Granting of Relief is enclosed.
