Attached please find the January 1988 progress summary of the Select System Assessment.

A request"'o 'xtend the completion date of Performance Enhancem'ent Program, Project 1,-'ask 4.11 which involves the relocation of equipment and personnel into the new maintenance

building, was discussed with and agreed to by your, Region II staff.

The extension is required due to delays in, the receipt of some of the required internal furnishings.

The new completion date is February 29, 1988.

SELECT SYSTEM REVIEW JANUARY 1988 PROGRESS DESIGN BASIS RECONSTITUTION Work continues on a

risk based assessment of historic Plant Changes/Modifications.

Reconstitution of design bases for Area Radiation Monitoring, Process Radiation Monitoring and Normal Containment Coolers is proceeding in accordance with the Integrated Schedule.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS o

Removed requirement for use of auxiliary oil pump during Auxiliary Feedwater Pump coast down.

o Confirmed ability to consider Containment Spray and Emergency Containment Coolers as redundant in a

Technical Specification context.

Repaired grill on 4A Containment Spray Pump o

Completed PC/Ms to install orifices in Containment Spray Pumps.
