ENCLOSURE TURKEY POINT STATUS REPORT (JANUARY 21 - February 1,
1988 1.
Plant Status Unit 3 was in mode 5.
Unit 4 was operating at lOOK power.

Facilit 0 erations Summar Unit 3
has completed repairs of the control rod canopy seal weld and is conducting repairs on reactor coolant pump 3C seals.
Additionally, the plant is installing a radiation monitoring system in the reactor vessel upper head region.
This monitor will allow the plant to detect reactor coolant system leaks in the upper head region.
The projected unit restart date is February ll, 1988.

Items of Interest The independent management appraisal is continuing.
The senior evaluation team is meeting with the FPL senior-level review board to discuss the appraisal progress.
M. Ernst, the Deputy Regional Administrator, will attend the February 5 meeting as an observer.

NRC Staff Activities Durin the Period NRC Regional and Headquarters staff conducted a management meeting with FPL personnel on January 25, 1988.
Topics of discussion included the independent management appraisal, management-on-shift
- program, PEP status and recent plant events.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 2, 1988.
On January 29,
- 1988, the Region granted discretionary enforcement with NRR concurrence for TS 3.0. 1, in that the licensee discovered that four steam generator low-low level trip set points were improperly set and had to be readjusted.
The discretionary enforcement was granted for 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> to allow the plant time to recalibrate the trip set points.
