Docket-Nos.
50-250 and 50-251 Results of the NRC Confirmatory Measurements Pro am Sam les Nuclide Value Tritium Sr-89 Sr-90 Fe-55
- 2. 18 E-5 2.87 E-6 1.61 E-5
- Denotes that the percent uncertainty for Sr-89 based on Sr-89/90 'gross counts minus Y-90 counts makes it too statistically inaccurate to meet the NRC Criteria of Acceptance.
Reanalysis of the sample would not improve on the poor statistical data since Sr-89 was at least 10 times less than Sr-90 due to decay (approximately 6 half-lives) at analysis time.
To provide an accurate cross-check for Sr-89, we request a
more current Strontium split sample be provided where Sr-89 has not undergone excessive decay relative to Sr-90.
For information, the Sr-89 activity in the above sample was 1.9 E-05 micro-Curies/milli-liter on January 11, 1987 with an uncertainty of 514, which is not acceptable.
