A Item 3 involves the installation of curbs for the doors in item 2.

The curbs are complete except for five;curbs which must follow the installation of doors in item 2.'hese curbs are expected to be com-pleted by April 8, 1981.

Adequate interim protection is provided as described in item 2 above.

'I Item 4 involves, among other things, the installation of emergency diesel tank isolation valves.

Delivery of these valves is expected on June 9, 1981 and completion is then expected on August 2, 1981.

Ade-quate'nterim protection is provided as described in the Fire Protection Report dated February 25, 1977 section 8.5.3.13.

Based on our.review, we conclude that you have shown good cause for extending the completion dated of the four items listed and that the public health and safety is not adversely affected by the extensions requested.

Accordingly, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.48(d) the dated for the four items listed are extended as requested.

A copy of the related Notice of Extension, which is being forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for publication, is enclosed.

SER No. 3.1.15 Control of Combustibles I.em 1 involves a labyrinth-door combination to protect the switch gear rooms.

This was a change in the original modification proposed by letter dated October 20, 1980.

We approved this change on January 26, 1981.

The labyrinth work will be completed on February 25, 1981, Delivery of the doors is expected on March 20, 1981.

Installations of the doors is targeted. for completion on March 30, 1981.

The doors were recognized to be long-.lead procurement items and you proposed an'nterim solution, i.e.

Marinite board on existing door s which was accepted by the staff.

In addi iion, an off -normal condition such as a fire would be annunciated in the control'oom, 'and the Nuclear Turbine Operator inspects the area in the course of shift surveillance.

Item 2 involves the installation of seventeen fire doors.

Two of the doors are installed and nine are hung but not completed.

All doors are expected to be installed by May 4, 1981.

The delay is.due to procurement of the doors and -associated hardware. 'dequate interim protection is

1981, Florida Power

& Light Company (the licensee) requested that the U. S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) grant an extension until August 2, 1981, for completion of modifications to the fire protection system at the Turkey Point Plant Unit Nos.

3 and 4 located in Dade County, Florida.

The Commission's Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation has concluded that good cause has been shown and that such postponement will not adversely a feet the health anil'safety of the public.
