MONTHLY OPERATING ACTIVITIES AUGUST 1996 HIGHLIGHTS*

The unit entered this reporting period in Mode 1 and stable at 88.5%

RTP.

Reactor power was decreased on separate occasions to no less than 84%

RTP due to Main Transformer thermal limitations as a result of increased ambient temperature conditions.

The unit exited this reporting period in Mode 1 at 86%

RTP.

There were no challenges to the pressurizer safety valves or power operated relief valves.

Gross electrical generation for the month of August was 670760 MWH.
