UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 Ms. Tanya M. Hamilton Site Vice President Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant Duke Energy 5413 Shearon Harris Road M/C HNP01 New Hill, NC 27562-0165 December 21, 2017

SUBJECT:

SHEARON HARRIS NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNIT 1 - CORRECTION TO TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR IDENTIFIED IN LICENSE AMENDMENT NO. 161 REGARDING PLANT PROCEDURE NUMBER REMOVED FROM TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS (CAC NO. MF8894; EPID L-2016-LLA-0023)

Dear Ms. Hamilton:

By transmittal letter dated November 6, 2017 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML17250A202), the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 161 to Renewed Facility Operating License No.

NPF-63 for the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1. The amendment revised the Technical Specifications (TSs) in response to your application dated December 2, 2016, as supplemented by letters dated April 25, May 22, and October 2, 2017 (ADAMS Accession Nos.

ML16337A249, ML17115A311, ML17142A417, ML17275A419). Part of the amendment removed plant procedure PLP-106, "Technical Specification Equipment List Program and Core Operating Limits Report [(COLR)]," referenced in TSs, as it pertains to the COLR.

It was identified that the NRC's transmittal letter and the Safety Evaluation (Enclosure 2),

Section 1.0, Introduction, referenced plant procedure PLP-6 instead of PLP-106, as the plant procedure being removed from TSs. This letter is to inform you that these were typographical errors inadvertently introduced during the issuance of Amendment No. 161. The TS pages in the amendment were not affected by this error and the rest of the safety evaluation referenced the correct plant procedure PLP-106, as stated in your license amendment request. This does not affect the amendment itself and no further action is needed.
