60028 AND 60029)
The enclosed Safety Evaluation Report 'provides the results of the staff review of the D. C.
Cook Nuclear Plant, Units 1
and 2 inservice inspection programs for ASME Class 1, 2 and 3 components.
The ISI programs addressed by this report cover the second ten-year intervals for both units, from July 1, 1986 to June 30, 1996.
These programs were submitted by your December 31, 1985 letter, and amended in your June 1,
1987 letter.
The staff has reviewed and evaluated the ISI programs and relief requests submitted for D. C..Cook Units 1
and 2 and adopts the evaluations and conclusions contained in the enclosed Technical Evaluation Reports (TERs) prepared by EGKG.
The enclosed Safety Evaluation (SE) incorporates the TERs and their findings.
We are recommending that relief be granted from the inspection requirements which we have determined would be impractical to perform and where the proposed 'alternative inspection requirements provide an acceptable level of quality and safety.
Certain relief requests are granted subject to conditions and limitations as noted in the TERs.
Summaries of relief requests and conditions are provided in the SE.
The Donald C.
Cook Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 is required to comply with the ISI programs as defined in your above referenced submittals where relief has been granted in the enclosed SE.
