Dear Mr. Denton:
In our March 30, 1984 letter (AEP:NRC:0838B,
Response
to Generic Letter 83-28),
we committed to provide a status report on our Vendor Information Control System by December 31, 1985.
This letter fulfillsthat commitment, and the following information is respectfully submitted.
The Vendor Information Control System (VICS) for D. C. Cook is now formally established under AEPSC General Procedure 5.6 and is controlled by the Nuclear Operations Division.
The D. C. Cook VICS meets the objective we established in Attachment III of our letter of March 30, 1984.
To date we have sent letters to 737 vendors.
We supplied these vendors with a list of our documents and requested each-vendor to verify the completeness and correctness of our list.
We plan on sending letters to an additional 184 vendors, once we are able to ascertain their current addresses.
This vendor list constitutes the results of our review of approximately 6500 vendor documents, and is based upon the vendor documents that we have on file in our plant vault and/or our qualified supplier list.
So far, we have received responses from approximately 360 vendors.
It is noted that the difficulty in identifying and obtaining positive responses from all vendors was anticipated by a Nuclear UtilityAction Committee (NUTAC).
That NUTAC anticipated that some of the vendors would have gone out of business, changed
- names, changed
- address, and/or would not respond to general letters of inquiry.
Nevertheless we plan to continue, and intensify as necessary, our efforts in this area.
We will update this status report by December 31, 1986.
